The Geographic location of Tropical Rainforests
Tropical Rainforests are described in two words: warm and wet. Average monthly temperature are 18 °C (64 °F) during all months of the year. They are found in locations that receive significant amounts of precipitation. Tropical rainforests are found in the tropics, found in the equatorial zone, which is between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn. These rainforests are present in Southeast Asia, to the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Northeastern Australia, Skri Lanka, Central America, and many Pacific Islands such as Hawaii. Tropical Rainforests have been called the "Earth's Lungs", but they produce little oxygen to the atmosphere through photosynthesis. Approximately 7 percent of the Earth's surface is covered by tropical rainforest or about three million square miles (7.7 million square kilometres)
